Martin LXK2 Little is the smallest guitar in the Martin Line-up offering a good tone in perfect quality. Mostly smaller guitars are designed for beginners. Hence they are prepared cheaply.
But, Martin & Co. Inc. has strayed from the path and introduced this highly versatile guitar in sound quality.
Featuring high-pressure lamination and producing beautiful tones, I find this lightweight guitar travel-friendly and perfect for students and little kids to handle.
It’s a durable guitar that is easy to carry and use anywhere you desire and comes for a low price as well. Overall, the structure, sound quality, and pricing of LXK2 little make it a must-have for travelers and beginners.
The first thing to know about LXK2 little is that it’s purely a travel guitar and comes in a ¾ size that doesn’t allow a louder sound production. But still, compared to other small acoustic guitars, this one produces an excellent quality of sound above average. It sounds thin and more balanced between the basses and highs.
It’s good to play in open places and perfect for those who prefer fingerstyle above strumming. Although the sound is not as productive as full-size guitars, LXK2 little produces enough defined sounds to satisfy the users. Its strings also feel quite lovely and blend the notes pretty impressively. Overall, the music of LXK2 little is soft and sweet enough to create a pleasant atmosphere.
The Martin LXK2 little acoustic guitar is designed according to concert model in a “Hollowbody” body type. Its body is prepared with laminated Koa and comes with a natural satin finishing having no binding. The Indian rosewood material is used to craft the bridge and fingerboard of this small travel gadget.
The scale length of this little Martin is 23” and a total number of its steel type strings is 6. Its neck is made up of natural Stratabond material and contains a set of chrome tuning machines. This model of Little Martin collection comes with a tusk saddle and no cutaway body style.
Build and Design
This 23” scale Martin instrument is small and easy to play due to its comfortable design. Having a flat oval shaped neck make this piece way simpler to play than other Martin little models.
Its body is small but big enough to play on the knee comfortably with a strap or without it. Although not a single piece of solid tonewood is used to craft this laminated KOA guitar, it works just flawlessly.
Who is Martin LXK2 Little Acoustic Guitar Suitable For?
Martin LXK2 little acoustic guitar is purely a pickup-and-play guitar. As it’s easy to play and quite smaller in size, this model is best for small hands of children who want to learn guitar music. Apart from beginners, this guitar is also perfect for travelers who want to enjoy music while in transit because it’s easily portable due to its comfortable padded gig bag case.
It’s not an ideal piece for professionals but a must-have for hobby musicians who prefer compact size and have a good taste of sound and tone. It’s a casual musical instrument and pretty much suitable to play at family gatherings and small celebrations.
Why did I like Martin LXK2 Little Acoustic Guitar?
Considering all small guitars I’ve used so far, the Martin LXK2 little acoustic guitar is utterly unbelievable due to its sound quality. It’s perfect for street performance and quite durable. Its material doesn’t even get deformed due to humidity or temperature change.
The best part about this little Martin model is that it comes with a perfectly soft padded case that keeps it well protected during travel. Other than that, this lightweight travel guitar offers a better, smooth and balanced tone compared to other small guitars and that too for a surprisingly low price. Moreover, you don’t have to be tricky when it comes to playing it.
Whether it’s a family gathering or friend’s celebration, grab this little guitar and play with its strings to entertain everybody with its melodious sounds. I love it for its deep tone that you cannot expect from other small guitars.
Things I Dislike about Martin LXK2 Little?
I dislike that Martin LXK2 Little acoustic guitar is not made up of solid wood material. Its back, top and sides are crafted by using the high-pressure lamination of KOA whereas. Its neck is prepared by gluing together thirty-five pieces of wood.
Its manufacturer claims it to be environment-friendly, but in actual it’s prepared by using HPL strategy to cut back on its production cost that is to some extent not appreciable. Moreover, it is equipped with a hook for the strap but doesn’t come with a strap itself that leaves its users to arrange one themselves.
To conclude, Martin LXK2 little acoustic guitar is beneficial especially when you’re just starting out and looking for an easy to play an instrument rather than complicated pro guitars. Comparing to other small guitars, this one offers better sound production and playability. It’s a beautiful piece for travelers, students and especially the guitarists who prefer fingerpicking style over strumming.
If you’re a professional and pretty severe about material quality, this guitar is not right for you. But for starters, this is just an all-in-one guitar, and you won’t find something better than this at such a lower price and good quality. It’s an easily portable guitar that can be played in open atmospheres to enjoy soft sounding tones. Whether you’re a beginner or traveler guitarist, Martin LXK2 Little acoustic guitar is all that you need!
